Who we are
PikaBox is run by PikaBox Ltd, a company registered in Kenya and based in Nairobi. “We” and “us” means PikaBox Ltd. “You” means anyone using PikaBox to cook, order, book or post.
PikaBox is a marketplace. Home cooks, PikaChefs, hotels and farms are independent businesses who sell through PikaBox. We check them, connect you, and handle payment and support.
Your account
You must be 18 or over to hold an account. Keep your login safe; you’re responsible for activity on your account, including orders placed by household members you’ve given access to, within the limits you set.
Ordering & paying
In plain words: the price you see at checkout is the price you pay. No surprises at the door.
Prices include the cook’s or chef’s price, any delivery fee and taxes, all shown before you pay. You can pay by M-Pesa, card or your PikaBox wallet. Payment is taken when you place the order, or held for chef bookings as described below.
Home cooked
Home cooks are verified: ID, a mandatory food-safety course, a video kitchen check and a tasted first plate. Riders collect at the cook’s gate; cooks never see your address. Tell us about allergies when you order; cooks list ingredients, but home kitchens may handle nuts, gluten and other allergens.
PikaChef bookings
In plain words: we hold your money, not the chef. The chef gets paid after you share your completion code.
Chefs set a price per guest. When you book, your payment is held by PikaBox. After the meal, you share a completion code with the chef, and the payment is released. PikaBox adds a 15% service fee on top for the client; the chef keeps her full price. Group bookings can be split between guests; each guest’s share is held the same way.
Quotes and counter-offers are binding once both sides accept. Chefs bring their own tools unless agreed otherwise.
Flash suppers
Flash suppers are offered by hotel kitchens for a few hours on the evening they are listed, in limited numbers, for collection or delivery that evening. They’re prepared to the hotel’s own standards and should be eaten the same night.
Cancellations & refunds
You can cancel a food order free until the cook starts it. Chef bookings can be cancelled free up to 48 hours before; after that, the chef may keep up to 50% to cover ingredients. If something goes wrong with your order, report it within 24 hours. How refunds work
Your content
Recipes, photos, reels and reviews you post remain yours. You give PikaBox a licence to show them on PikaBox and in our marketing, with credit to you. Creators who sell MealKits through their recipes keep up to 80% of what they earn. Don’t post anything you don’t have the right to share.
Pika, our assistant
Pika can suggest meals, build baskets and draft bookings. It never places an order or makes a payment without your tap. Suggestions may sometimes be wrong; please check allergies and quantities before you confirm.

Our responsibility
We’re responsible for running PikaBox with reasonable care and skill. Cooks, chefs and hotels are responsible for the food they prepare. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2012.
Changes & the law
If we change these terms, we’ll tell you in the app at least 14 days before. These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and disputes go to the courts of Nairobi, unless the law where you live says otherwise. Questions? hello@pikabox.co.
