Sell from home

Your pot, your neighbours.

Cook what you already cook. Neighbours order a plate, a PikaBox rider collects it sealed at your gate, and what you earn lands on your M-Pesa that night.

A night in your kitchen

Put the pot on. We’ll do the rest.

Your app walks you through the evening: what to cook, what to charge, who is at your gate, and what you were paid.

  1. Tonight’s pot: the dish, a photo, how many plates and what time riders can collect

    Open tonight’s pot

Pick a dish you have saved, add a photo, say how many plates and when they are ready.

  2. The pricing helper: ingredients, gas and packaging, then your price per plate

    Price it your way

The pricing helper adds up ingredients, gas and packaging. The price is always yours to set.

  3. Handover at the gate: check the rider’s face and ask for his code

    Hand over at the gate

Check the rider’s face against his photo and ask for his code. Nobody comes inside.

  4. Getting paid: the M-Pesa number in your name and when you are paid

    Paid tonight

Every plate, paid to the M-Pesa number in your own name the same night.

How the money works

Your price, your pay.

Buyers pay the price on your menu. PikaBox takes 15% of it for the orders, the riders and the safety checks, and the rest is yours, paid every night.

Getting verified

Checked once, trusted every night.

Neighbours order because they know every kitchen on PikaBox has been looked at by a person. Here is what that takes.

  1. ApplyYour ID, photos of your kitchen, where you cook and what you cook. About ten minutes.
  2. Our team verifies your kitchenA person reviews everything before your kitchen can open.
  3. The hygiene courseHome kitchen hygiene, in short lessons with a test at the end. No pot opens without a valid certificate.
  4. Packaging, then your first potStock up on PikaBox packaging and go live. Neighbours nearby can follow you.

Your cook’s journey

Grow from Starter to Kitchen legend.

Every kitchen starts with fifteen plates a day. Each stage lets you sell more, and the review that moves you up runs every night on its own: no forms, no asking.

Your cook journey: the stage you are at, the next stage’s bars and your progress towards them

Moving up needs a clean safety record as well as orders and ratings. A safety strike moves a kitchen down a stage, and a promotion never changes the price of an order already paid.

Safe at your gate

Nobody comes inside.

You stay in control of your home. Buyers never see your address, and only the PikaBox rider on the night collects, at your gate.

A four-hour freshness clockEvery pot closes four hours after it is cooked, so every plate reaches its table fresh.

  • Riders are verified: you see his face and he gives you his code before you hand over
  • Allergens are declared on every dish and printed on every label
  • Share where your pot is going with someone you trust
  • Hold the safety button and our team calls you
Before you open the pot: a photo, a hygiene checklist and the allergens on the label
Safe at your door: buyers never see your address, verified riders only, and a safety line

Questions

Before you apply.

Something else on your mind? Write to hello@pikabox.co and a person will answer.

  1. Do I need a commercial kitchen?
No. PikaBox is for home kitchens. Our team verifies yours and you pass the home kitchen hygiene course before your first pot.
  2. What does PikaBox take?
15% of your price per plate, taken from it rather than added on top, and 12% once your kitchen reaches Kitchen legend. Packaging is bought at cost. Tips are all yours.
  3. When am I paid?
Every night, to the M-Pesa number in your own name, for everything delivered that day.
  4. Will buyers know where I live?
No. Buyers see your area, never your address. Only the rider collecting that night is shown where to go.
  5. How many plates can I sell?
Fifteen a day to start. Neighbourhood kitchens can sell thirty, Star kitchens sixty and Kitchen legends a hundred and twenty.
  6. What if I can’t cook one night?
Rest tonight with one tap, or set your weekly hours so neighbours know when your pots open.
